In recent developments, various private schools across Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, have sparked controversy by demanding advance fees for June and July 2025 from parents. Parental Concerns and Complaints
According to a recent report, numerous parents have voiced their concerns and submitted complaints to the relevant authorities. They have called on the school administrations to revoke the demand for advance fees, labeling it as unjust and burdensome. This issue has gained more traction as it directly contradicts the instructions issued by the Sindh Private School Education department, which clearly states that schools are prohibited from collecting fees in advance.

The Debate Over Private School Motives
The pressing question on everyone’s mind is why these private schools are choosing to defy the official notification. The move has fueled a debate about the motives of the private education system, with many parents expressing frustration over what they perceive as a profit-driven approach to education. They argue that the financial strain placed on families by such demands is unwarranted and exacerbates existing financial pressures.
Need for Stricter Enforcement
This situation highlights the need for stricter enforcement of educational policies and greater accountability within the private school sector. As parents continue to question the intentions of these institutions, it remains to be seen how the authorities will respond and whether any corrective measures will be implemented to address these grievances.
Voucher Guidelines for Fee Collection
Each month’s fee voucher must be submitted separately, as outlined in the circular. July vouchers are valid until July 31, 2025, while June vouchers are valid until June 30, 2025.
The notification stressed: “All principals and administrators of privately managed schools in Sindh must strictly follow these guidelines to ensure transparency and provide financial relief to parents.” Strict measures will be enforced against anyone who fails to comply. The orders are definitive, and all private schools in the province are required to adhere to them.
New Fee Collection Guidelines Issued
Officials announced that the Directorate of Inspection and Private Institutions has issued a circular detailing new fee collection guidelines, following the directives of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah. The academic year 2025–26 is set to commence on April 1, 2025, with matriculation exams scheduled to start on March 15, 2025, according to the Steering Committee’s decision.
To ease financial burdens on students and their families, schools are permitted to collect tuition fees for matriculation students only until April 2025. Fees for students transitioning from pre-primary to Class IX and Class X can be collected in April and May of 2025 for June 2025 and July 2025, respectively.
